I remember the days when people would post topics because they had a point to make, or wanted to start a discussion. Now people are just posting random stuff like these forums were some kind of blog, or copying each other in an attempt to be funny by ingratiation - cf. The "Cunt of the Day" thing that spread around. That was never even funny the first time I saw it.

I kind of agree, and kind of disagree. I don't think people are trying to ingratiate themselves (what's to gain? Its a website where people post comics and jokes FFS -- they should save the grovelling for job interviews and sex). I think the issue is that most of the in-jokes around here have a half-life alot shorter than some folks give them credit for. I've probably been guilty of helping to keep some of them on life support too long myself.

The last three days that I have logged on to the StripCreator forums the only new posts in General Discussion have been new "The x club" threads that serve absolutely no purpose.

Today was the first day in two and a half years that I went online and didn't want to check in to the forums.

It was only because I saw that this thread was created by Jes and that it had more than one reply (that wasn't by the author of the thread) that I didn't just close the browser window and see what the outside world had to offer.

I've always argued against people speaking ill or whining about this website or the forums, but I agree with Jes, this latest spate of starting utterly pointless threads annoys me.

I'm not about to leave forever and delete all my comics though, you'll have to try harder than that to get rid of me :)

No, but I'm gonna have to kinda agree with the stupidity factor. A couple of stupid [insert word here] club threads was mildly amusing at best. I like beating a joke to death as much as the next annoying sonofabitch does, and a couple of good, solid kicks to it after it's dead is still acceptable, but when you start hacking up the thing and chewing on it, you've probably gone too far.

You know that thread in the test forum where everyone would post a picture of something that rhymes with "hand"? It's the same joke as these clubs basically, only there aren't any posts complaining about them since they're contained in one thread.

The problem with that is that there is no one thing we can all discuss and agree on, so soon the thread is moved to fights go here, where it is poked at and dies. The politics thread in FGH has lived forever because it's an ongoing discussion with lots of different opinions, but it has no place in GD. So, what is acceptable to discuss in GD?
(Sorry if I make no sense, I haven't slept for a few days)

If I see a thread and several cloned threads of it, I ignore it. I read this because jes posted it and now that I've read the thread, it reitterated what I already knew. I'd try to think of something funny to add but I'm trying to think of a funny comic right now and am having a brain fart.
