haha indeed, but not all the stuff that Cartoon Network played was bad (fooly cooly)! Plus Cowboy Bebop which actually now that I think about it wasn't the greatest but was still pretty good. What we need is a bit of input from Matchbook_Romance. He knows his stuff.

I can't express the enjoyment and awe I get from watching them.

Movies:
Everything Miyazaki made, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and every other big one that made it over to America. I tend to like series better, though the animation quality in the big budget movies blows my mind.

Ive seen a lot of anime or so I thought, but when I came across your list nicejohnson I didnt regognise any of them. Any you would particularly recommend me checking out?

Also does anyone remember a series called Dominion Tank Police? I remember the Sci-Fi channel in the UK started showing this along with a few others on saturday nights, and from what I can remember it was hilarious, and very bizarre, although the memory may have been distorted by the usual state of weekend drunkeness I tended to find myself in at the time.

Well, I live in the US so I wouldn't knw about the DTP show, but things I can recommend (MANGA) are Chobits and Paradise Kiss. Chobits is about this robot chick who is really real in Paradise Kiss is about a punk a tranvestite and a stuck up girl.

Excel Saga. No other anime is even worth considering watching, unless someone holds you to gunpoint and makes you choose between watching it and reading SrHombre's comics. And even then I think I'd go with the Spanish bore since three panels of suck isn't as bad as thiry minutes minimum of suck, unless you're a really slow reader.
