That's funny, I thought you were making a generalization about delusional drug-addicts.
Gazillions was not a word I used. I know what the Pope has done, as I happen to know a little bit about him. Did you know he was responsible for saving quite a few Jews during the Nazi occupation of Poland? He also rolled back quite a few progressive measures inside the Church. He is also the head of an organization that is riddled with pedophiles, and he himself has done next to nothing to address or punish the representatives of HIS church when they are outed as pedophiles.
I don't remember ever claiming to be. I'm also sure that your statement has no relevance to this discussion.
Good, that's your right and privelege, just as it's my right and privelege to do the opposite. Also, in reading the writings of BOTH John Paul II and Hunter S. Thompson, I can say I feel more spiritually connected to Hunter S. Thompson. I don't feel a hell of a lot of spirituality coming from Da Pope's way.
There's a very simple reason for that. I have an opinion on everything. Why? Because I care about everything. Why? Because I don't spend my time drinking my troubles, pain, and thoughts away. I'm sure it pisses you off, and I'm sure of that because it drew you out of your foxhole enough for you to comment on it. Does it bother you that I have a big mouth? Give me a forum and I'll use it. Period.
I don't know what her intentions were. Organized religion in general is an overblown money-making scheme meant to capitalize on the fact that people are a spiritually searching species. When you become a part of that, you facilitate that basic principle. All Catholics are a part of that, so I am not sure why they WOULDN'T be attacked.
Anyone you want. People who cried over the Pope don't know shit about him. I didn't cry over Hunter S. Thompson either. That's an overblown emotion. It's upsetting because I enjoyed his work and there won't be any more of it to read. I didn't enjoy the Pope's work. My point is simple: Fuck the Pope.
Maybe you should read some more about the Vatican. No country-bombing, just the facilitation of archaic, intolerant beliefs. And maybe a few secret killings here and there. Maybe.
JFK? Did I name the airport after JFK? Did Hunter S. Thompson? Did the Pope? That also has no relevance here. Wait, aren't you defending the Pope? Or are you defending the right to be upset about the Pope? Or were you attacking the hypocrisy of saying "fuck the Pope" and mourning HST? So, who ARE you attacking? Who ARE you defending? For the record, fuck JFK, too.
That's what I was looking for. The weak spot in your rhetoric. So can I, Kajun. I can understand why SOME people would. I can understand why a bunch would. I don't agree, and I think if they were enlightened they probably wouldn't care all THAT much. People weeping in the streets? Give me a fucking break.
Also, I DO care about the both of them. I care about things that have the ability to influence the thoughts of a very large amount of people. Thompson and the Pope were examples of this. I say fuck the Pope, read HST.
