Poor almost always equals black. The root of that problem is racism by whites and anyone who can't make that connection is either a moron or a racist white that's looking for a way to justify their racism. Africans were brought here and kept in poverty since then. This causes their communies to foster crime and racist sentiment. Now people say that those qualities are the reasons whites don't like them? That's retarded thinking.

Funny, I don't remember being black myself or seeing anyone who was black when we had to get our food from the shelter. I'm sure at their sister shelter in downtown St. Louis there were black people, but there certainly weren't any at the one where I lived.

Poor doesn't "almost always" equal black. And there aren't any white people holding the black people down. I seriously don't know where you guys are getting this shit from. Black people have the option of getting jobs just like the rest of us. And if I can live comfortably in a 2 bedroom apartment making just barely over minimum wage while my boyfriend makes about the same amount, then they can too. It's more of an issue of how many kids they have and if they take on the necessary responsibility to feed them (or, of course whether they work at all). We wouldn't have been poor if my mother didn't decide to go all baby factory and pop my brothers and I out so close together -- then decide to be a stay at home mom as well. But that was the problem -- my mother's laziness. And you have to look at all people, regardless of their skin tone, to figure out why things aren't working for them. I guarantee the problem doesn't lie in what color they are.

I could also wear the poor badge but I put that away long ago. I agree that there is a problem with the number of poor white people too but I still say that chocking up black peoples disadvantages to laziness is dumb. It's a rejection of logic that is, well..., lazy. I have a good job and I've made a good life for myself but I know that, to an indeterminate degree, I can thank my whiteness.

How could you possibly believe that black people are treated so badly that they can't even get a job? I mean even the most minor of jobs will put food on the table and a place to live. The problem is laziness/pride. I guess they're all too good to work at McDonalds. And if, supposedly, they aren't getting jobs because of their race, couldn't they just get a lawyer, sue the company, and make even more money out of the deal since there's all these discrimination acts to protect their blackness?
