I do not see a problem with knowing who is coming across your borders and being sure they are not terrorists or criminals from another country.

When they wrote that "Give me your tired, your poor" etc I do not think they envisioned the ability to have a database of known terrorists and the level of globalization we live in now.

its like repeating the "Right to Bear Arms" thing as you shoot flame throwers in the mall. I do not think that was the intention of it, as they had no idea what kind of arsenal a 15 year old kid could wind up with in the modern age.
