I found that using a version of Windows and working with the image in GIF format can make it transparent.

PM me if you're having any problems, I'll be home over the next 3 days. If you can't figure it out, just upload the originals somewhere (in a nice large size as PNG files) and I can do them for you. I don't mind doing a few, but if you want a lot of them done you'll have to learn how.
