What exactly is the point of international politics in this game when absolutely nothing you roleplay ever has any effect on your own or any other nation?

I used to have an account a long time ago, and I never could get into that aspect of the game.

Yeah. I'm wondering about that myself. I'm enjoying the choices, but how does the United Nations resolutions affect your nation at all?

Eh.

I think the creators are making a more interavtive version of Nation states called 'Nation States 2' and you can declare war and stuff like that, i think, i couldn't be bothered reading much about it.

I reformed my old nation of Jejuneosity (the original must've been deleted). So now I have two diametrically opposed nation-states.

We have a pretty good region in Nation States going, but we need more people.

Remember, you can create multiple nations, though only one can be in the UN.

Select "TheWorld" from the menu.

Scroll to the bottom and search for the region ATOMIC OROGENY SYNDICATE.

Select the option to move your nation there.

Welcome!

Okay, I've had some fun submitting some funny resolutions to the UN, but the fact of the matter is that most other regions seem to take the game pretty seriously. So my resolution for Mutually Assured Destruction (below) only has 12 supporters (it needs 111 more to come to a general vote). Partly this is because it was pointed out that it was "illegal." That is, it violates part of Resolution 109 which allows nations to do what they want about nuclear weapons.

Our best tactic is to come up with something, post it for debate in their forums (so one of the nuts who is really into this can point out if we are violating some other resolution, because I'm not reading all those freaking things) and then submit it when it has been suitably revised.

Now, like you, I don't take this too seriously, so my goal is to do something that reflects the personality of SC. Something that we think that could pass (or at least not get deleted so it can come to a general vote) but that is just ridiculous enough that you know we're tweaking them. Mutually Assured Destruction was my first attempt at this approach, but it wasn't quite subtle enough. Or, I might have gotten it through if I had put it in the forum and found out I needed to add a line that makes it repeal resolution 109.

I've posted this here one as an example, but since it is probably dead in the water (unless we care to resubmit a modified version) I am open to suggestions for a new one. Let's see those famous SC creative juices flow. Just wipe them up when you're done.

The United Nations,

OBSERVING that petty disputes between nations often result in conflict in which conventional weapons are used;

DISMAYED at the wanton and senseless death and destruction caused by such conflicts;

CONVINCED that no nation will dare attack another that is armed with nuclear weapons;

REQUIRES that every member nation construct or purchase nuclear missiles sufficient for the assured destruction of all neighboring nations.

I've got to be careful because supposedly if I submit too many silly or illegal ones they'll kick me out.

But yeah, I was thinking of the robotic manrape thing as well.

Maybe a resolution legalizing the creation of robotic slaves and we can sneak an oblique reference to manrape in there.

Hello, I've just joined your glorious region (under the name of Phentasia). How about wording the resolution something along the lines of 'Legal recognition of the rights of the sentient life forms in same sex relationships? (i.e legalize robotic man rape) assuming you can describe robots as 'life-forms'. Throw in some stuff about hermaphrodites and other generally unacknowledged people such as, those with genetic differences etc. not currently recognised by legislation (I can almost guarantee that they wont though I can't be certain as I haven't read through the forums etc. yet.). Maybe even say that alien life might be discovered at some point and 'interacted' with on this level?

There is already a resolution on cloning somewhere, so if we submit a series of resolutions, or complimentary resolutions, on sentient inorganics we may have a chance.

I was thinking along the lines of a resolution that allowed for the creation and study of sentient, inorganic lifeforms, followed by or complimented with a resolution detailing the specific freedoms of what a country's population can do with said lifeforms. And snuck into the details can be a clause on reproducing humanoid genitalia for the purpose of personal pleasure. Including same sex roleplaying, I.E. manrape.

Any thoughts?

Here is a draft

Category: Advancement of Industry

Area of Effect: Labor Deregulation

(Those are options I have to pick when submitting the resolution)

The United Nations,

OBSERVING that labor shortages cause undue stress on local economies;

DISMAYED at the inflation rate caused by rising labor rates and the difficulty in finding people to perform so-called menial work;

ENCOURAGED at recent scientific developments in robotics and positronics brains;

ALLOWS that every member nation may study and create sentient, inorganic lifeforms.
