I sat back, read the forums for a while, then just jumped straight in and recieved absolutely no "newbie" abuse from anyone, so I guess I'm lucky and should really just treat the newbies the same, but come on, there's a definite family tree with these newbies, all it takes is for one of the many forms to win a contest or something and we could have some unneccesary grief!

I don't really remember being a newbie. I think someone actually emailed be and asked me to come to the forums at some point, and that's why I went to them. I actually had probably 40 comics by the time I was in the forums. Hell, for a while I never realized I could fight with someone without making crappy comics about them!

I made a fairly discreet entrance as well. I lurked for about three months, watched Crabby and Diesel make their auspicious debuts, and just sneaked in with a comic contest entry. Which won.

Just for the record I was around a good couple of months before deisel ever showed up.

I came in on 10/2/2001, made a few strips, and got some positive feedback (thanks, DexX!).

Then I asked a question which wasn't in the FAQ about how the titles are calculated (e.g., "Stripcreator Regular"), that somehow inspired a great ladyj rant about newbies.

If we could search the forums (hey, there's an idea!) I could find it. Maybe Brad could make it the first thing a newbie sees when creating their first strip.
