Okay, let's pose a hypothetical...
You walk into a pub, and a bunch of guys, obviously friends, are standing around having a laugh. One calls another a big poof. Do you charge into the middle of them, screaming about homophobia?
God, I hope not... In Scotland you'd get glassed for your trouble...
Oops! Sorry! I just referred to a racist stereotype!
Obviously I wouldn't do that because I would put myself in danger. There's not much harm you can do here. In any country you would either get glassed for your trouble or threatened for doing that; your hypothetical actually just proves that although you know you're in the wrong you won't back down because it would affect your role in society. They wouldn't beat you up for any logical reasons, they would beat you up because you had the cheek to tell them they were being homophobic and because you spoiled their joke, exactly what is happening here, but in a differet situation. Of course you know saying Fuck The Scottish is racist!!! But you can't beat me up on the internet, so you do the next best thing and argue! You're only arguing with me because if you give in and agree that it was racist it would make you look soft! And also because I spoiled your joke, which you knew was racist, you even said it! You said this place wasn't politically correct, implying that the joke was racist! The reason the other Scottish people didn't get offended is because they say the exact same racist jokes to you. But you just think about the impact it will have on your group of friends, not on the people who come from those countries who would get offended, the people who almost certainly wouldn't dare to tell you you were being racist, even if you weren't taking it seriously, which is not obvious, may I say. Anyway, in the unlikely event someone did dare to say you were being racist it would be OK because you could just shrug them off and have a little bit of flaming and arguing fun when you know you're going to win, because you can't accept you were wrong. I've tried to end this argument on a nice note, but you brung it back up, implying that you feel the need to win it so you don't look stupid when your friends are around, and instead making me look stupid, which I've even already said I was. I've said I did over-react, I realised that, but the jokes were racist and could be offending to some people, why can't you realise that? God, you all really hate me now.
