Actually, graduation is the action of receiving or conferring a degree. Commencement is the ceremony where you wear the awkward garments and snatch the sheepskin from the Chancellor and yell "Whoooooo!"

At least that's how it is where I come from.

I graduated High School.

From lovely LANE TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL. Screw that college prep thing they just recently threw that in.

I've had certain nitpicky persons tell me that one does not "graduate" from high school-- one "is graduated" from high school. No wonder we got drunk and went "woohooo!" when we got to leave that place.
