when it comes to netiquette i always consider who ever started a thread to be its owner. if they were ever to ask me to stop doing whatever i'm doing in their thread, id respect that and stop. if they never say anything, i assume their like me and don't care one way or the other, and so i treat them just like anyone else there

personally, i've never had to ask anyone to stop anything in one of my thread topics and I probably never will. the only scenario i can even think of where i would is if someone comes in and tries to dictate how others should talk and people start conforming. other than that you can do anything in one of my threads (including hadcuffing not_not_moderator_not_scyess to the bed spread eagle and sending in ecstasy terry). i especially welcome off topic humor. like HC said earlier, 'Serious commentary just seems incredibly out of place here.' thats not to say you cant have a serious discussion just that a peppering of humor almost always seems apropriate
