According to a website that my browser forgot, and the test found therein, I was labeled an "insightful linguist" myself. The prototypical insightful linguist was Dickens, with his perspicacity and ingenious originality.
Insightful linguists have all these things in common - they mock conventions and are the true trailblazers of their generation in matters of linguistics and cultural evolution. They dissect things, they get to the core of subjects, they have incisive wit to spare! They cut no corners, say it like it is and fear not the consequences one bit! Insightful linguists are hero-material! True originals; not sheepish followers at all here! They challenge the status quo and shake things up! They make some noise! They are righteous (not self-righteous) and they abhor falsehood. They cannot stand hypocrisy and lies - and denounce it on every chance they get!
I suspect sardonic master Lucian, Greek scribe of the 2nd Century, to have been an insightful linguist as well!
However, having Charles Dickens for role model is already more than good enough in my book!
