I didn't 'see the light and stop being a troll' after seeing Ima pay any sort of due homage to any king and queen. I fucked with him cause that's what I like to do, and I fully expect to get it back in spades. If it looks to you, squidrabies, as though I followed the flow and liked the guy only after everyone else did, then there's nothing I can do about that - you're entitled to assess the situation anyway you see fit.
On the other hand, I admire the balls it's taken for you to point out so emphatically that a system where people put too much emphasis on 'seniority' is stupid and no fun and frankly pretty embarrasing to watch. The whole human fixation with First Come, First Served/I've Been Here 10 Minutes Longer Than You So I'm Better Than You has always made me sick to my stomach, whether it was in school, college, the military, a church, wherever. It's an ever-present byproduct of human arrogance and unimportance and I've tried for years to just stay away from places that thrive on it, so I think SC works for me because it doesn't thrive on it. In fact, I find the word 'noob' so smarmy and trite, so self-important and indicative of some stupid internetty attitude that I've never used it and never will use it. Can you say that?
Having established my authority to spot and hate smarm, I will say I've only ever been hit over the head with it once here (though I've deserved it probably much more) by some asshole in IRC. I think that only one instance in several months, considering I'm a loudmouth, is pretty good. I say this not to negate your assessment of how the board stands now as compared to its former greatness, but as a new guy's impression of the place. Ivy and some others have never deigned to acknowledge I exist, but so what? Maybe I'm not their cup of tea. Maybe I'm not even fucking funny!
The problem here is that people consider the internet to be a valid means for communication and expression of emotion, which it's not. If somebody tells me here they wish I was dead, I don't care, because in essence that message isn't real. If I find out on the internet I won the lottery, I don't care, because that message is equally as unreal. (Let that be a lesson to anyone planning to propose to me here).
Whew. I've never been one for diplomacy but I must say that was a fucking excellent attempt I just made.
