I know HTML can often be a pain in the ass and is probably more trouble than it's worth, but would it be at all feasible to have the codes enabled in comics to let us turn text into symbols? A few of them would really come in handy. (Musical notes, hearts, etc.)

HTML entities are your friend...

♥ (?) gives you a heart and ♪ is supposed to give a musical note though that doesn't work for me in Safari.

If you use numerical codes, they should work. Here's a list:

I've seen people use entities in their comics and I don't think I'm stripping them.
