So May 6-8th we were planning on going camping and getting really drunk for my birthday, mostly because our schedules allow us to take that time off. We will be staying at the Watkins Woolen Mill State Park & State Historic Site in beautiful Lawson, MO. That is, unless we decide that Weston Bend is a better camping destination. (Both located in about the same area). I'm making my camping reservations soon, so commit or forget it.

Some of the trip stops on our journey include Jesse James's home, the Watkins Mill on the campsite (who give tours on the even numbered hours), and possibly an old jailhouse if I can learn to read my mom's handwriting by then.

If you guys are serious campers and or history buffs (or you just want to know how to make scrambled eggs in the middle of the woods), let me know and I'll arrange a space for you. Our tent can easily fit 6 adults and we have dividers in case you need privacy.

I'm almost positive this is where we're going. History and sleeping on grass, what could be better?

I'm intrigued. How much does this all cost?

Camping depends on if you bring your own tent, mushroom festival is free, Jesse James's house should still be $7/adult, and the mill itself is of course free with campground rental. As for the jailhouse, I think that's free or relatively inexpensive. If you choose to camp with me, I'll require that you buy one item per meal (For example, breakfast may be scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee - I would maybe ask you to bring sugar for the coffee).

I just thought this would be a fun trip for those who enjoy this type of thing. I'm guessing by the lack of reply there aren't many campers on Stripcreator.

There are private campgrounds along the Illinois river that you might want to check out sometime. The Illinois is actually pretty decent for canoeing, from what I understand. There's a caving group in Chicago you might want to look up as well, they would know all the best parks for camping in your area.

They're actually pretty nice for Chicagoans.

I'm actually to scared to go campling, I can barely take care of myself in the big city. Let alone in the woods, I could never make scrambled eggs. or toast.

Camping and I have never gotten along. Usually because of the ticks. I hate ticks.

I have never once gotten a tick while camping. Are you camping in a tall grassy field?

I can't go away with you on a rock climbing weekend,

It's okay, I still love you. I'll mail you a postcard which will cost me $1.00 to purchase, 5 minutes to write, and $20 to send to you.
