Comic Cup VIII - The Serial Cup

Welcome to the latest incarnation of the Comic Cup, a tournament some have called the ultimate test of comedic prowess. But wirthling and I have both won one, so it can't be.

By now you're probably all aware of how this is going to work, but just in case, here's a recap.

At the start of every round, I'll post the first comic in a serial which players then compete to continue. In addition, their comics must comply with given rules.

As soon as both competitors in a pair have posted their comic, voting for the better comic begins. All players except those competing in the match at hand can vote. If there's a tie in the first round, I'll step in and vote. In ties in subsequent rounds, the person with the most votes in previous rounds will win.

The victor goes on to the next round, in which the loser's rule will be used. The next pair then have the task of writing a follow-up to the winning comic.

Here are the match-ups, determined by my closing my eyes and thrusting a pen at a piece of paper upon which names were writ.

israphael vs kramer_vs_kramer
Bazilla vs wirthling
fuzzyman vs DH-01
crabby vs fpd
kaufman vs xpac
skagg vs TheBlairZip
Big Evil Dan vs Kajun Firefly
Kevin Keegans Perm vs ladyjdotnet

In keeping with the traditions of the last two Cups, I'll keep this handy record of the tournament's progress, including who's voted for whom.

We'll kick off Round One tomorrow with the beginning of the first serial, and the match between israphael and kramer. Be there!

Man, I'm in trouble. I pulled DH-01. Kaufman got the free pass to the next round... Lucky dog!

i envisage the voting on this one to be something similar between the choice between shit sandwiches and shit on a stick. i perform very poorly in this sort of situation so itll be another case of me being left behind in the first round no doubt

its like someone walking up to you at a party and demanding you "SAY SOMETHING FUNNY DAMMIT!"

See, basically all you're doing by insulting xpac is gauranteeing that he'll vote against you when you're time is up.

Bit of a silly (or over confident) tactic.

You don't know how right you are. At least you have had the experience before.

If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have no luck at all. D'OH!

Well done Wirthling, though bad news, I've set a nasty rule, so it'll be hard for you next round.

Me vs IsRaphael should be a good fight, as I figure we're both fairly evenly matched, unlike certain other pairings in the first round (cough - KaufmanvsXpac).

KKP vs LadyJ could be good, making the finale.

Oh Wirthling, you know what sucks? You! You know what you suck at? Everything!

Come on, how else am I gonna win, I'm still laughing at his understood comment on the other thread.

I also have that same problem.

I'm not really familiar with fpd so I don't know how big of a challenge this is going to be.

kramer_vs_kramer Vs israphael
and
Kajun Firefly vs Big Evil Dan

should be first round highlights, all evenly matched strippers in my opinion.
