This is why I dropped the programming half of my double degree, and am now doing a good old BA with a linguistics and philosophy double major. I made the change while struggling with a hellish C++ program, when I suddenly realised that I really, truly, genuinely hate programming.

I am a much happier person now.

I have a horrible love/hate relationship with it and have since I was younger. I wanted to write video games. Now it's like this annoying puzzle I'm obsessed with playing with. I manage to give it up for years at a time and then I wind up tinkering around with code again.
