Well, two years of my life have come to a conclusion now that my indy film has been completed. Out of curiosity, are there any indy film festivals in your area that you might recommend? We've got a few picked out that we're going to submit to but I'd love to hear any suggestions on festivals that may sneak under the radar. Gracias.

I live in Portland, Oregon. Our town IS an independent film festival.

There's the Maryland Film Festival here in Baltimore, but I'm not sure if the films have to be Maryland-made or not. Anyway, it's probably worth Googling. :)

You guys just had the TriBeCa film festival, though I don't know if that counts as Independent.

You can link to the call for submissions for upcoming festivals in San Diego from this site and also to organizers of several different festivals that run here.

Yeah, evil_d and I went to it in 2003. I hadn't realized that this year's festival had already happened. The website is here, but I don't think they have info up about submissions for next year yet.

There are several DC film festivals. I know of the DC Independent Film Festival, Filmfest DC, and DC Underground Film Festival. I admit I haven't really looked into their submission requirements, though.

Knoxville used to host (as recently as 2003) an independent film festival called Valleyfest, but it's on "hiatus" according to the site.
