Lately I've heard some arguments regarding the people who did not evacuate in the face of hurricane Katrina. Some even calling the people there idiots. True, some of the people there are idiots. But to generalize and state that all the people that did not evacuate are idiots shows the ignorance to the situation. Many people were either too old, sick, or poor to simply get up and go. Such levity should be reserved for matters of less magnitude and severity. Our government receives trillions of dollars to employ, analyze, prepare, maintain, protect, OUR country from this type of calamity. It's a fact that the manner in which things were handled in Louisiana and Mississippi is a disgrace to the fellow citizens of this great country. I'd like to say, "Wake the fuck up, Bush!" But that will never happen.

Well, with poverty on the rise, the tax base that supports that military brawn is bound to dwindle. It's a house of cards really. The rich are getting richer, sure, but there aren't enough of 'em to carry a super-power sized military on thier backs.
