For serious? My boyfriend is absolutely obsessed with finding a Wii. Too bad they don't have them anywhere in Canada right now, except for the occaisonal one at Toys R Us.

Its a different experience, admittedly a bit of a novelty that many regular gamers find hard to enjoy immediately and the graphics of the current batch of games are fairly simplistic , but Ive never ever seen a console attract as many non-gamers the way that does. Ive seen people who have no interest in games take up the remote and simply start playing, and save for the occasional exception on other consoles this rarely happens.
I for one think Nintendo went the right way rather than trying to compete on hardware, and the wii is fun no question about that. Seems their focus at the moment is on party games, although Zelda is as great as it always was.
Of the games Ive played on it so far here's a quick run down of hits and misses. I will say it works best on a big television mind.
Zelda - Brilliant
Wii Sports - Has its moments, Tennis is great four player, Boxing tires you out, Bowling is a little too simple but still fun.
Wii Play - Rather like 10 little demo's but you do get a free controller, The Tank game is good, and there's something for everyone really
Red Steel - A bit average, nothing to write home about
Call of Duty 3 - Ditto red steel, the control is however excellent, but the game feels rushed and not as polished as the 360 version (and no multiplayer)
Super Monkey Ball - Single player is as good as always and the wii remote feels right for that, Multiplayer games range from quite good to some really bad but there are 50 of them, so plenty of gameplay.
I watched some friends play that Wario Ware game, which looked fun but the music starts to gripe after a while.
On my friends ps2 the other day we were playing Guitar hero 2 which is aces. Im sure if the PS3 dropped in price Id be more tempted, as it is I can't really justify that sort of expense.
One thing that has disappointed me about the Wii however are the lack of Quality titles at the moment, and most of the games I am interested in have been put back again until November (Mario Galaxy, and Metroid 3 etc), Im still going to get one, if only to play a few of my old Cube games that I decided to not donate to the nephs, and the odd bout of zelda, but I could really do with seeing a decent football (soccer) game released for it although Im not holding out hope at the moment. That said Battalion Wars 2 is due soon, and I may check out Wing Island next week before making the plunge (stock willing)
If I had the dosh Id get a Wii as a complimentary system to a 360 (plus a Hi Def telly) but as I don't Im going for the cheapest option.
The 'Mii's' are great also.
