I was in Paris in this small hotel, and our rooms didn't have toilets, but they did have bidets. If you're gonna run plumbing into a fucking room, why not just put in a goddamn toilet? Which of the two is more useful? I have to walk down the hall to take a shit, but I have a rectum sprinkler available 24/7.

They're lucky we only peed in it.

I guess you haven't heard but not all countries are created equal. Not all have general sewage systems. In some countries, people are known to wipe only with their hands and in some they carry a very smelly container of water for such emergencies. You can either travel and find out first hand or thank goddess next time you sit down to crap. Your tax dollars at work!
In some European countries things like sewage systems are so old that to improve them wide spread would bankrupt the country, so they go with what they've known. Now, a bidet along with a toilet might be nice to have. :}
