Only use narration when it's important, or adds to the funny, "On the right is Timmy" (or whatever) is not funny and has no importance to the story.

Sorry if you didn't see the importance in it, but then again, I guess our characters don't need names.

A more seamless way of naming characters is to have someone else say their name when addressing them, or to have them introduce themselves in the flow of a conversation.

As for the question of if its important for the characters to have a name... eh, not really. At least that's my take on things. Not unless you plan a series for them. And even then, the only time their name is important is if someone decides to address them by it.

I like to give my characters names if I'm making a series. I just think it gives it a more personal feel and if I make a different series but want to use the same character (like Maura for example) it's easier to give them a different name to make sure people don't get confused with the bisexual traffic warden they played in a previous series.

OR

I can make another series and bring back a previous character by using the same name (like Flora, the lesbian robot).
