Why precisely do we have international law, when the US government can ignore it at will without consequences? When is Annan going to grow some balls and eject the US from the UN for gross breaches of international law and UN rules?

Among the things agreed to by all UN signatories is that "pre-emptive strikes" are completely unjustifiable, and will be viewed by the UN as acts of aggression, and that one nation may not under any circumstances attempt to change the government or depose the leadership of any other sovereign state.

Maybe the US doesn't count, as they haven't paid their membership dues in close to a decade (leading to a critical funding shortage in the UN).

I want to know what the other 88 aircraft were doing. Aerial displays to entertain the kiddies while their homes were being bombed?

Note: "attempts" They had not shot down or damaged, as far as the article suggests, any aircraft.

I also think that it is important to note that the no-fly zone is not ratified by the UN, and is only a US thing.

Now we are talking civil war time? The US is the US. Southerners voted for Bush too. However, I never would have. Of course, I didnt vote at all. I do have strong opinions about this Iraq issue. I am not against an attack on Iraq, however, the timing is horrible and the attack is basically unprovoked. That is the part I have a problem with. The attack comes in convenient timing for the government, but don't things like this USUALLY have that sickening quality? I think, had we waited a little, Iraq would have done something incredibly stupid and insane, and provoked an attack. Instead, we go in there with bombs flying and open the can of worms ourselves. Granted, had we waited, there is a possibility that Iraq could have done something catastrophic to warrant an attack...so I guess I am unsure about it all. All in all, I think nothing would've been hurt had we waited just a little bit.

THANK YOU. I for one am NOT a yankee. If anything, I'm a "cowboy" according to region. Why is it so hard to call us Americans? No other country, northern or southern America calls it's people "Americans". Aren't Ireland and Scottland considered part of the British Isles? The people who live in England call themselves English and Britons, but the Irish call themselves Irish and the Scotish call themselves Scots.
