Do I have to have a UM student ID to get into the McKeldin or Hornbake? Even if I can get in without the ID, do I need one to use a PC (or are they Macs?)?

My wife started taking classes at UM-College Park and I've been driving her there due to some troubles with our second car. I thought about killing some time at one of the libraries but I figured I'd find out if I'm even going to be welcome there before I get maced and fed to the dogs or whatever they do to thirtysomething-year-old drifters who try to get in without ID.

If I can't get in, I might try that crazed-gunman-in-the-tower thing on for size instead.

You shouldn't have any trouble if you're just going to the university library; they shouldn't even check. There are plenty of middle-aged people in college, so you'll probably blend in just fine (unless you really ARE a floating head in real life).

If you use the computers, you'll probably need ID, though some places are probably lax on enforcement.

Yeah, McKeldin is open to anyone. You can even get a special borrower's card, but I think it costs like $100. It's $20 at UMBC, I think.
